Wellington Airport (WLG)
Travel and Ground Transport

(Wellington, North Island, New Zealand NZ)

Wellington Airport (WLG) offers those flying into New Zealand's North Island a good choice of ground transportation to meet their needs and requirements.

For those who choose not to rent a car for the duration on their stay, alternatives at WLG Airport include shuttle vans, taxis and buses, which transport passengers into downtown Wellington and its many suburbs, such as Berhampore, Brooklyn, Evans Bay, Hataitai, Melrose, Oriental Bay, Roseneath, Southgate and Vogeltown.

Buses

Buses here are operated by Airport Flyer and travel into Wellington city centre at least four times an hour, all through the day. Travelling between the scenic Hutt Valley region, Hataitai, Kilbirnie, Rongotai, Queensgate, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt and of course, Wellington city centre, Flyer buses are based on the terminal's southern side (level 0). Onboard, free Wi-Fi Internet access may appeal to those with a Smart phone or laptop.

Shuttle Buses

Shared shuttle buses are becoming an increasingly popular method of travel at WLG Airport and this popular minibus service, connects any address in Wellington city centre and inner suburbs. Shuttle buses depart from outside of the main terminal entrance and the cost of the journey is usually dependent upon the number of passengers travelling onboard. The main shuttle companies include AP Shuttles, Co-op and Super Shuttle.

Hotel Shuttle

A number of the city's most important hotels provide convenient door-to-door courtesy shuttles for guests, do enquire about whether this may be available to you, before you pay for a bus or taxi cab.

Taxi Cabs

Taxis ranks are located alongside the main terminal entrance, with no taxi is operation being older than seven years. As well as travelling into central Wellington (roughly 25 minutes), taxis regularly head to Seatoun, Lambton Quay, Courtenay Place and Johnsonville. Taxi companies based here include Corporate Cabs, Green Cabs and Wellington Combined Taxis. Alternatively, you may like to arrange for a limousine to collect you.
